Books

Hello everyone! So today I thought I'd do a post about some books that I've read that I have really really liked. I don't know why ,but recently I have been reading a lot which is strange for me because I'm not really a big reader. But hey ho, Here are some books that I enjoyed :)

'The Fault In Our Stars' by John Green
I think this book is only about £10 from Waterstones but obviously as it's gaining popularity the price will increase. I really like John Green as an Author and I've read many (I think all actually) of his other books but this one is by far my favorite book by him, if not my favorite book of all time. It has a really deep message about fighting through Cancer and it also beautifully tells a journey of friendship and relationships. I know what you're thinking: 'ew it's another lovey dovey stereotypical teenage fiction book'  I would say it's only 20% about love and the rest is about never giving up. It's honestly one of the sweetest books I've read, although It's quite sad at the end. *just a warning*

'Paper Towns' by John Green
This book started off as an adventure, there was no real setting the scene, which I prefer because then it just gets straight to the point. It's about a boy, going against what everyone is saying, trying to find his runaway friend. I thoroughly enjoyed this book from page 2, although it was slightly repetitive but the point of that was to create tension. I really recommend you read this if you have read The fault in our stars - although, once I read the fault in our stars, It almost came naturally, I bought all of John Green's other books.

'The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
I discovered this book as every time I looked to buy a John Green book, it'd always be in the 'Similar things to buy' section (also because it's a major movie now) and it was quite funny as when I went into the shop to find it, I didn't even finish asking the man who it was by before he went and found it! Anyway, I don't know if this really count's as being one of my favorite books that I've read  because I haven't finished it yet - I'm about halfway through. I'm already intrigued to see how it ends because the whole book is written in the style of letters, and the letters tell the story. Although these letters aren't really addressed to anyone, they just say 'Dear Friend' so I have no idea who Charlie (the boy writing the letters) is writing to. That's how I can already tell it's a good book, because it makes you read to the end to find out the answers.

Well those are three of the books I've recently read, I'm not really a bookworm but they didn't take me too long to finish.  I hope this didn't bore you too much! sorry...

~Thank you for reading~

School

Hello everyone! Well I thought today, instead of having a planned blog post, I'd just talk about whatever the hell I wanted.
So hi, today It was my first day back at school after a relaxing but busy half term. Obviously, I found the getting up in the morning part ridiculously hard because I've gotten so used to waking up at 9:30 most mornings that my body clock was slightly surprised when I got up at 7 am. I don't think i'm ever going to forget the pain and panic you experience when it's time to get up on a school day - I've been doing this school thing for a good 10-ish years now and I'm still not used to the early mornings! I'm starting to lost hope that I ever will! The hardest days to get up on is when It's the middle of Winter, verging on antarctic conditions and education forces you out of your nice warm bed. Those are the worse.

I think school can also be a cause of weight gain in children because I don't know about you but when I get home I just head for the fridge, dumping my bag somewhere on the way.
Sorry this has been a boring post, but I just wanted to try something different :~)

~Thank you for reading ~
enjoy this picture that I probably shouldn't of laughed at as I hard as I did

Use it to your benefit.

"The future is what you make of it"
Hello Everyone! So I've been thinking a lot lately about thing's in life I would like to do - like Skydive and travel. But as obvious as it is, all of the things I want to do involves money, which is something I don't really have and a lot of other people are in the same boat as me. The fact that I can't live how i want to live and do what I want to do because of money used to really upset me, but I've come to use it to my benefit.

If there is something you want to do but money restricts you - Don't completely rule it out. Just save it for later. Use it to your own benefit. Ok, so you know that you can't do it now, but then that should encourage you to do it later. There are so many places i want to travel to, and so many things i want to do and that fact that I can't do it now has just encouraged me to do it when I'm older. It's encouraged me to be more confident with the world as one day, I'll be traveling around it. As you may already know, I've never been on a plane. Therefore I am even more encouraged to go on a plane. Hopefully, when I do go abroad on a plane and experience different cultures, It will be a better experience as I would know that I've worked for it and It will be something I can say I've done before I die. I'm going to make the best of my future, not in a #YOLO (You only live once...completely overused and misunderstood by my generation) way but in a I've-done-everything-I've-wanted-to way, I want to die knowing that I've done everything I've ever wanted to do. The best way to do that is to make my life as good as I can with what I've got. I don't want to think "What if..." I want to think "I'm glad I did that" .

I don't think I'm alone here. I know there are people is the same boat as me, and this post is to help you see that instead of being upset and frustrated like I was, use it to your own advantage and make the best of what you've got.
So for now, I'm not going to be travelling, but doesn't mean I won't when I'm older.

~ Thank you for reading, It always means a lot. ~

Confessions of a fangirl

Hello everyone! How is life? Well basically It occurred to me whilst I was stalking celebrities and searching Google maps for their houses that you can get attached to someone/something so easily without really knowing them, just from a couple videos off youtube and BOOM before you know it you're waiting up until 2 am for a new video. Oh, you don't do that? just me? ok.

So yeah, this post is a bit random but it's really weird how we can know celebrities as well as we know our bestfriend's, but not know them personally. Like, we could be joking around with them and tweeting them like you've been friend for ages, when most of the time you've never even met them. It's also amazing how these people can make you think differently about your life. For instance, The Midnight Beast taught me not to take life too seriously, and Dan & Phil taught me that you can be someone without really having a talent, even if you're not good at singing or performing. Some bands have even saved lives just by saying wise words like 'you're beautiful' that makes that one fan feel beautiful. I think this is why we freak out when our idols tweet us or something. It's hard to get my head around because they're just normal people with a superior status, and yet we think of them so high and mighty that they might as well be a god or something.
It's also weird how much they mean to us. If I didn't have youtubers to watch, bands to obsess over, I don't know what I'd be doing with my life (probably something more useful like studying but hey ho) but in all seriousness, for me, my idols are the ones who can cheer me up when nobody else can. Just by watching a video or two. I know this is a teenage phase and that it will all blow over and soon I'll snap back to reality, but it's nice always having somebody to look up to.

~ Thank you for reading *high five* ~
Yes I am a fangirl how did you guess

Half Term

Hello everyone! I hope you all have had a better day than me! So, today I broke up from school for a week! (why are all my sentences ending in exclamation marks.) Although I may not have school, I have a lot of homework to do, which i think is unfair as half term breaks should be used for resting and regaining your mental health, but noooo, it's basically school without leaving the house. Sorry if this blog post isn't really making sense 1) my hands are so cold so they're really stiff and that means i can't type well and 2) I am extremely tired from working my butt off at school.

Well sorry this is short, but I feel like literal death. So I hope you all had a good Valentines day! If you're single like me,well, I guess our mums love us.

I'm going for a nap

1000 views?!

Hello everyone! So yesterday I only reached 1000 views pft not a big deal or anything. (It really is) So once again thank you thank you to everyone who has followed, commented, viewed, or read my blog. It's nice to know that even on days that I don't post anything, I still get views! I started this blog not expecting more than the odd ten views and now...now I have 1000. I hit the 4 digit mark! Obviously it's not all about how many views you get, but it's a good indicator about how your blog is going and whether people are enjoying it as much as i enjoy writing it. It would of been impossible (literally) If it wasn't for YOU.  I think I have conveyed how thankful I am.

THANK YOU!

Here is a little present for you :)

The Woman In Black review

Hello Everyone! Well, I saved the Monday blog post slot for a suggested post which was 'a day in the life'. Since I had quite an eventful day on Saturday, I thought I'd do it about that. But sadly, I forgot and so didn't really take any pictures to show you a day in the life of Carys. So, I promise I will do that! ... when I remember to prepare for it when I have an interesting day. Instead I shall do a review on the thriller 'Woman In Black'

*This may contain spoilers*
Right, I saw this on Saturday and overall I was slightly disappointed. I 'believed the hype' about this and how everyone was giving it a 9/10 on the scale of scariness, so obviously me being a wimp and all, I was quite nervous about watching it. At first, I found the first scene where those children jumped out of the window as if in a trance, psychologically creepy. I have to admit, it was a good way to start the film as it caused curiosity and engagement. But when Daniel first entered the creepy old house, you could see what was going to happen. You knew he would see this 'woman in black' and that something would happen to set up the story. Then when he came back to the village, and the children were dying, it turned more into an adventure movie than a thriller. Obviously, various parts of the film were extremely jumpy, but most of it was setting the story and the film didn't actually start getting interesting until about half way though, but by then you could tell what was going to happen. Overall, I think this movie is overrated and predictable. Although ,give it credit, It's very creative and is good for teenagers like me as it's not too scary but enough to give you a good jump every now and then. I would give this a 6/10 on jumpiness and maybe a 4/10 on overall scariness. Good show, Daniel.

What do you think about this movie? Let me know! :)

Things to do with friends

Hello everyone! First of all, thank you for the response on my last post, I have a couple ideas now :)
Well, the title is pretty self explanatory. If you get bored over the weekend, why not invite some friend round? Here is a couple of things you could do!

  • Watch an old movie: Something that you both used to watch as kids, and just let the memories come running back haha.
  • Watch a scary movie: I don't why this is fun. But when my friends get scared they make fun of the movie (*ahem* Holly *ahem*) so that's quite funny.
  • Bake something: It's always funny making something with friends, but it always ends terribly. You either make a mess or the cake or whatever you cook goes so far past wrong that you question if it's breathing.
  • Film a parody: I have never tried this, but it always looks like fun so why not.
  • Eat: Always a boredom killer.
Well these are just some of the things I do with my friends! Hope you all have a good weekend!
 ~Thank you for reading~

* P.S or if none of them work, you could write each-other valentine messages. Like me and Alicia did. (She wanted a mention so there you go Alicia :) ) *

Popularity

Hello, right ok this is quite a unplanned post. This post is about 'popularity' and how useless it is. I'm not popular, and I'm happy that I'm not.

Why? because it's all fake. Every part of it. Most people would describe the word 'popular' as having a lot of friends, going to huge house raves or whatever etc etc but if you look at it in depth, it's the complete opposite. You may think you have loads of friends, but in fact you probably only have one or two real ones. I have seen loads of situations where a group of popular's will act all friendly to each others faces, but then (excuse my language)*bitch* behind their backs. Popular's are literally the definition of judgmental. They don't stop judging people.Yeah ok, you may think 'At least I'll never be lonely' or whatever but the fact is everyone outside of the popular group does not see you as a person, but as a 'popular'. Here is a diagram (sorry you can't really read it)
The middle circle represents your crew full of cocky over-confident popular's. It represents the people who like you. The big blue circle represents every other student in the school,The people who aren't really keen on you.
So as you can see, Yeah you may have friends but they're the only people who will like you. Obviously, 'populars' are not born this way *cue Lady Gaga* but society makes them this way.
The sad thing is that because you're popular, people always expect you to look nice and dress your best. This could really affect your self confidence levels as you would feel you're never enough for anyone. This is why I would hate to maintain the standards of 'popularity' and If to be popular you're not aloud to best yourself, than I'm much happier being unpopular, if that's what society wants to call it.

Also, where will popularity get you in life? You can't get a job by saying "I was popular though" So don't let the popular's make you feel bad about yourself, because they're the ones wasting their time.

I understand that this post could be seen as rude, but I'm just sick of the popular people thinking they run the school. They close their selves off to the popular people, but there are so many nice people who I would never had met if I was popular.
Also, I understand that not all populars are like this (only about 99%) so if you're popular and part of that 1% who are nice to others and act human, not almighty superior overloads than this hug goes out to you *hugs*

~as always, thank you for reading.~
